david paterson

David began taking photographs as a hobby when he moved overseas in his 20s and after extensive travel has amassed a large collection. After giving several pieces away as gifts, he began to receive commissions in 2008 from interested buyers who had seen his work.

This is his first exhibition.

David's work is about the study of construction, formation and pattern. It is heavily influenced by his love of travel, and consists of contrasts between man-made and natural landscapes

Of his work, David says:

" I am fascinated by the frequency of patterns in my every day life. I try to capture objects from angles which are not immediately obvious, however, sometimes i am lucky and get a chance to photograph a single moment, where moving objects or foliage combine to create unexpected patterns. I like how the camera is able to uncover the complex within what otherwise appears simple. "

David was born in Dunfermline, Scotland in 1973 and currently lives in Edinburgh with his wife Sarah-Jane.
